Finsbury Food Group has renewed its partnership with Universal Studios, with plans in place to capitalise on the popularity of upcoming movies including Wicked.

BAKED treats firm Finsbury Food Group has announced the renewal of its partnership with Universal Studios alongside a tranche of new celebration cakes.

Building further on the current favourites from Universal-licensed properties including The Minions, Gabby’s Dollhouse and Jurassic World, Finsbury has announced it will introduce new cakes to the Universal roster to celebrate the launch of hit films including Wicked.

Launching in late September, Finsbury said it is particularly excited about releasing its new Wicked cake, inspired by the film. The 2024 film received masses of praise from both viewers and critics alike, becoming one of the biggest films of the year.

The sequel film – ‘Wicked: For Good’ – will hit cinemas in the UK in late 2025, ensuring the launch of Finsbury’s new Wicked cake will be perfectly timed to tie in with excitement for the family film and help to boost sales of baked goods in store in the process.

Andrew Scott, brand licensing manager at Finsbury Food Group, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to continue this relationship with Universal.

“Having performed immensely well in retail, the effort that has been put into making the partnership successful has shown in the quality of the products.

“Working with Universal Studios to bring these cakes to life has been a pleasure, and with new additions to the line, we can keep our finger on the pulse of what consumers really want.

“We’ve been heard at work behind the scenes on this for a while, ensuring it’s a cake that not only resonates with the film’s core fanbase but can be enjoyed by all – there’s a lot to look forward to this year and the next.”
