Music festival gives GroceryAid charity a boost

THE organisers of Checkout Scotland have hailed this year’s event a huge success for raising awareness for the GroceryAid charity.
About 600 people from across convenience retail, grocery, wholesale and FMCG producers gathered at Barras Art & Design in Glasgow at the end of August for the music festival.
They were able to see headliners Boyzlife and Nathan Evans & The Saint Phnx Band up close and personal, with both acts going down a storm with the audience.
As well as the main stage acts, a host of DJs – including Cassi, Babyccino, Jim Harper and DJ Naeem – provided further entertainment.
The evening allowed industry colleagues to network and have some fun in a laid-back atmosphere, with food, drink and a number of activations to enjoy.

The organisers, from the GroceryAid Scotland branch committee, also stressed the important role played by sponsor partners in ensuring the success of Checkout.
This year saw Highland Spring step up to the mark as headline, while Irn-Bru was back taking its usual VIP bar space.
Among the other supporters were Allwyn, Buckfast, Spar Scotland, SHS Drinks, Pernod Ricard, KP Snacks, Vape Suppliers Ltd, AU Vodka, Hooch and Diamonde Blush Gin.
And this year’s Checkout Scotland was deemed so successful that the organisers have already announced the date for the 2027 festival as 26 August.
A Scottish GroceryAid branch spokesperson said: “Checkout Scotland plays a key role in generating funds but it exists first and foremost to help raise awareness of the charity in Scotland.
“We want to make as many people as possible aware of the vital financial, practical and emotional support that GroceryAid offers to Scottish industry colleagues, entirely free of charge and in complete confidence.
“With next year’s Checkout Scotland already booked in, we’d love to build on this year’s success and make the next one even bigger and better.”
