Greens gives money towards accessible beach project

ABERDEENSHIRE convenience store Greens of Fraserburgh has donated £1,000 towards a local accessible beach project through its Heat of the Community funding.
As part of Greens’ Making a Difference Locally charity, the funding will help to support more wheelchair accessible Sandcruisers at Fraserburgh Beach and enable more locals with mobility issues to comfortably enjoy some time at the beach.
The £1,000 award will contribute towards the purchase of two beach wheelchairs along with the installation of a water tap to rinse off equipment and a secure storage shed to keep the Sandcruisers safe and well maintained.
The Heart of the Community funding giveaways form part of the wider commitment from Making a Difference Locally to support local community projects that deliver long-term and meaningful impacts to help improve inclusion and wellbeing.
John Cardno, part of the Fraserburgh Beach Sandcruiser Fund, said: “We are fundraising to purchase wheelchair‑accessible Sandcruisers to allow disabled people to access our beach as part of the wider beach regeneration.
“This funding will help make the project viable by contributing to the equipment, storage facilities and ongoing upkeep, ensuring the Sandcruisers can be used by the community for years to come.”
Jacqueline Gerrie, store manager at Greens of Fraserburgh, said: “This is such a worthwhile cause for the Fraserburgh area and a fantastic new initiative for the community that will make a real difference for people with disabilities. The £1,000 donation will help us move closer to our target and because it is match funding, it will also help attract further funding for the project.
“Knowing the money will be used to purchase beach wheelchairs, install a water tap and build a secure shed gives real confidence that this project will deliver lasting benefits for local people and visitors alike.”
