Encouraging the zero sugar ice cream indulgence

DRINKS firm Carlsberg Britvic has expanded on the Pepsi range of drinks with the introduction of three new flavours inspired by classic Ice Cream serves.
The new zero sugar colas seek to provide a refreshing addition to the soft drinks aisle with an indulgent touch through the new Cherry & Vanilla, Raspberry Ripple and Salted Caramel Ice Cream flavours.
Touted as the “ultimate summer treat”, the new range seeks to attract younger generations of shoppers and capitalise on the age group’s tendency for seeking out more treats in their usual shops.
The trio aims to meet this consumer demand for bold flavours across the soft drinks space, and with flavoured cola variants growing ahead in value sales compared to standard colas, says Nielsen data, Carlsberg Britvic believes the new launches will be ideally placed to drive up overall soft drinks sales.
The new Ice Cream flavours will join the existing Pepsi Strawberries ‘N’ Cream and Cream Soda flavours, which rolled out to shelves last year, and will be available from Tesco stores from 18 May. A wider, nationwide rollout is planned to come in the following months.
Each flavour will be available in a range of formats including an eight-can multipack, 500ml plain and price-marked bottles as well single 330ml cans. The single cans come with an RRP of £1, the 500ml bottles sit at £2.39 RRP and the multipack is priced at £7.55 RRP.
Munnawar Chishty, chief marketing officer at Carlsberg Britvic, said: “The addition of these new Ice Cream Flavours is an exciting moment for the Pepsi brand. Shoppers are actively seeking soft drinks that offer great flavour and following in the success of Strawberries ‘N’ Cream and Cream Soda flavours, we’re confident that the trio will continue to deliver.
“With its vibrant packaging, and nostalgic-inspired flavour line-up, the Ice Cream Flavours will offer retailers an eye-catching proposition that stands out in-store and will aim to reach consumers across a range of missions-from on-the-go impulse buys, to a treat to cool down in the summer heat.”
