HLP team expands its retail network across the islands

THE Healthy Living Programme (HLP) fed nearly 800 school pupils across Shetland as part of its recent trip across the island in April.
As part of its plans to expand its retail network across the island, HLP team members Kathryn, Gillian and Yvonne visited numerous primary schools across Shetland to share a nutritious breakfast and educate pupils on the importance of healthy start to the day.
In total, the team served breakfast to 786 pupils across five days – 20 April to 24 April – with a range of fruit pots, Weetabix cereal and toast topped with banana, providing pupils with a fun and educational programme and introduction to healthier breakfast options.
The trip began in Scalloway Primary School and Urafirth Primary School on 20 April and was followed up by visits to Tingwall Primary School and Happyhansel Primary School on 21 April.
The Wednesday saw the team go to Hammavoe Primary School, Lunnasting Primary School and Nesting Primary School, while Aith Primary School and Ollaberry Primary School saw visits on the Thursday. And the HLP team rounded out the week with visits to Cunningsburgh Primary School, Sandwick Junior High and North Roe Primary School on 24 April.
In addition to this, the trip also enabled the HLP team to expand its retail network and connect with more local stores from across Shetland.
A total of 19 new stores have now joined the HLP network of a range of various plans in a bid to empower retailers to offer healthier options across their stores and build engagement with locals in their communities.
This mission to Shetland was made possible through the strong partnerships HLP holds with key retail groups in Scotland, namely the connections made with Co-op stores on the island as well as Spar Scotland locations, including Spar Sandwick.
