ABERDEENSHIRE retailer Chris Cobb has hosted a Community Picnic event after winning a UK-wide retailer competition with Ben & Jerry’s.

As part of the competition, Chris, who owns Cults Stores – KeyStore in the Cults area in Aberdeen, won the chance to bring together his local customers for a Community Picnic day with goodies provided by Ben & Jerry’s ice cream.

The picnic took place on 25 August as the Cults and District WRI Hall was transformed into a vibrant community space for the celebration as local residents came together to enjoy some local food, live music and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream.

Speaking about the event, Chris said: “It was a great day for the whole community to enjoy. We were so thrilled to be selected as the winner, and it was a fantastic opportunity to give something back to the people who support our business every day.

Locals had the chance to connect with one another, enjoy some good food and, of course, sample the new Ben & Jerry’s Cookie Dough Ice Cream Sandwich during the day.

“Seeing our customers, local families and neighbours come together to enjoy the event made us incredibly proud. We would like to say a huge thank you to Ben & Jerry’s for making this happen.”

The Ben & Jerry’s competition ran between 22 June to 19 July and was inspired by the launch of Ben & Jerry’s Cookie Dough Ice Cream Sandwich and offered retailers the chance to bring their communities together for a day of fun.

As part of the prize, Chris also received a £2,000 donation to a cause or charity of his choice, giving him the chance to support his local community even further.

Lucy McManus, brand manager at Ben & Jerry’s, said: “Convenience retailers play a vital role in their local communities, so we wanted to give them the chance to bring people together and celebrate the communities they serve.

“It was great to recognise Chris’s efforts with a day of great food, entertainment and, of course, plenty of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. Seeing the excitement around the Cookie Dough Ice Cream Sandwich extend beyond the store and into the wider community was brilliant.”
