A new challenger brand has entered Tesco stores as the Jungle Squad Cake Bars range looks to shake up the children’s snacks category.

A NEW challenger brand has entered into the children’s snacks market with the roll out of the new Jungle Squad range.

The new Jungle Squad brand has hit shelves with its first range of Cake Bars that have been specially designed for younger consumers. Each bar contains just 3.2g of sugar, making it approximately 60% lower in sugar content compared with average cake bar and more than three times less than most leading brands.

Launching in Strawberry or Lemon flavours, the bars come in packs of five and are all individually wrapped making them more suitable for lunchboxes. Each bar also contains 89 calories.

Further to this, each pack comes with free character cards as well as an augmented reality (AR) game inside, alongside a dedicated YouTube series.

Available in Tesco stores now, the new brand comes from Imaginakery, a business on a mission to provide parents and children with lower sugar foods alongside some entertainment-led experiences.

The firm said it looks to encourage children to engage with more healthy options across stores through the products and improve their eating habits as a result.

Mark Simester, founder of Imaginakery, said: “The children’s snack category is broken, and parents are being left to navigate it alone. There’s a clear gap between what parents want and that the category currently offers.

“Too many products are still high in sugar, and too many healthier options feel like a compromise. Jungle Squad is about closing that gap, creating something that works for parents, but is driven by what children actually want.

“Switching from confectionery style cake bars to Jungle Squad can incredibly save a child eating 3kg of sugar in one year.

“This isn’t about removing treats, it’s about making better everyday choices easier. If small swaps can reduce sugar intake over time, the impact for families can be tremendous.”
