Caribbean flavour from Glenlivet
SPEYSIDE whisky distillery The Glenlivet has added some warmth to its range of single-malts with the launch of a new rum-finished expression.
The Glenlivet Caribbean Reserve is the first Glenlivet single malt to be finished in rum barrels. Tasting notes for the new dram describe it as having “rich notes of caramel toffee followed by mandarin orange, vanilla and honeydew melon.”
Packaging for the new expression has a Caribbean feel, featuring bright colours complete with palm trees and coral shades.
Brand owner Pernod Ricard is supporting the launch of The Glenlivet Caribbean Reserve with a digital-led media campaign, in-store activity, social media and PR activity.
Packs are priced at £38.95 RRP.
Marnie Corrigan, brand director at Pernod Ricard UK said: “The Glenlivet has grown 21.2% in value over the latest 12 weeks, and NPD continues to grow the single malts category adding 12% vs. latest 12 weeks last year
“The UK has a rich history of tropical takes on whisky cocktails and challenging the notion that rum is the only option for Caribbean-inspired drinks, making it the perfect market for the latest addition to our brand portfolio.
“The Glenlivet Caribbean Reserve is a unique proposition and the launch is an important next step in our ‘Original by Tradition’ platform, to reinforce our innovative credentials and to recruit new-to-category drinkers.”
