Turkey and cranberry returns to the Urban Eat range
SLEIGH bells ring, children sing and retailers roll out the seasonal sandwiches as Christmas Day approaches.
This year, Adelie Foods – the firm behind Urban Eat – has expanded its festive food to go range in the hopes of catching even more Christmas shoppers and busy commuters over the season.
Available from 5 November, Adelie’s expanded Urban Eat collection includes two new additions, as well as three Christmas classics from the brand.
New SKUs in the range are: • Veggie Feast, a vegan sandwich introduced in a bid to tap into the growing demand for free from options, filled with sweet potato falafel with beetroot, carrot and cranberry slaw, vegan cranberry mayonnaise and salad leaves on malted bread.
• Turkey, Bacon and Stuffing Sourdough Toastie, a hot option for the colder months that is filled with turkey, stuffing and bacon mayonnaise on white bread.
Urban Eat festive options returning for 2018 include:
• Turkey Feast Sandwich, comprising turkey, sweetcure bacon, stuffing mayonnaise, cranberry sauce and salad leaves on malted bread.
• Turkey Bacon and Stuffing Sandwich, filled with turkey, stuffing and bacon mayonnaise on white bread;
• Brie and Cranberry Wrap, a tomato tortilla filled with Brie cheese, roasted vegetables, salad leaves and cranberry sauce.
Not limited to the 12 days of Christmas, Adelie Foods said its festive sandwiches and wraps make Urban Eat’s top ten best sellers list whenever they are available – proving popular from November onwards.
The firm also pinpointed the second week of December as the time when consumers hit ‘peak Christmas sandwich fever’, with more seasonal sandwiches sold during this week than at any other time.
Isla Owen, head of brand at Adelie Foods said: “The Christmas sandwich is now a much loved tradition of the festive period in the UK and as well as being a highlight of lunchtimes for consumers, it provides a massive opportunity for increased sales for retailers.
“As well as our tried and tested favourites that capture the magic of the season, we’ve extended the collection this year to tap into consumer interest for more vegan on the go products, while also catering for the demand for hot eats that can be eaten out of home.
“Our extended collection gives retailers even more opportunity to take advantage of what’s long been a thriving market.”
The Urban Eat festive range is priced from £2.49 to £3.99 RRP.
