A high-climbing team from Spar Scotland has presented a cheque for more than £50,000 to a charity for sick children after a fundraising trek up Mount Kilimanjaro.
Susan Hutchison (owner of the Spar store in Scone), her Dundee-based CJ Lang & Son Ltd colleagues Graham Murdoch and Jamie Buchanan, and customer John Evans scaled Africa’s highest mountain in aid of the Sick Kids Friends Foundation, supporting the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh, and Maggie’s Dundee.
£56,766 was raised through collection buckets placed in stores throughout Scotland and also via personal donations.
Jamie Buchanan said: “We are completely overwhelmed by the response from our families, friends, colleagues and customers, and to raise over £50,000 gave us that extra motivation to get to the summit.”
