New partnership with Co-op Wholesale celebrated with £500 for community initiative
THE RaceTrack Pitstop Strathclyde convenience store has marked its move to Co-op Wholesale by making a £500 donation to a local community organisation.
As part of its launch celebrations, the store on St James Road, Glasgow, which now carries the Proud To Stock Co-op decal, selected nearby Townhead Village Hall to receive the cash boost through Co-op Wholesale’s Making a Difference Locally (MADL) charity.
The donation will help the hall and its associated facilities and activities to provide an important community space for residents and encourage inclusion, wellbeing and community engagement.
Guna Sud, retail manager at RaceTrack Pitstop, said: “We’re delighted to officially relaunch RaceTrack Strathclyde and mark the first store opening under our new partnership with Co-op Wholesale.
“A huge amount of work has gone on behind the scenes to bring everything together, and I’d like to thank the entire Co-op team for their support throughout the process. From the initial planning through to launch day, they’ve worked closely with our team to help us deliver a fantastic new-look store, an extended range and an even stronger offering for our customers.
“The response on opening day has been fantastic, and we’re really excited about what this partnership can bring as we continue to roll it out across further RaceTrack stores.”

The hall includes football pitches, a community café and volunteer-led garden and orchard, and it runs a host of initiatives, from digital skills classes to family activities and volunteering opportunities.
Isabel Baird, the hall manager, said: “We are particularly proud of the way our hall brings together people from different cultures and helps individuals gain confidence, learn new skills and become more involved in community life. This donation from Making a Difference Locally will help us continue delivering these opportunities and strengthen our efforts to reach every household in Townhead so that no one misses out on the support, activities and sense of belonging our hall provides.”
