Waitrose high point for Lowrise

Low-calorie beer shines across Waitrose stores

Full-strength and low calorie lager Lowrise has secured its first major supermarket listing as its makes its way to over 150 Waitrose stores across the UK.

LOW-CALORIE, full-strength beer Lowrise Lager has secured its first major grocery listing with a rollout across 173 Waitrose stores nationwide.

Lowrise offers consumers a full 4% ABV beer which boasts 35% fewer calories than the average beer at just 87 calories per can.

Helping shoppers to meet the healthier alternatives demand that is often high during the summer months, the new beer is available across Waitrose from today at £2.20 RRP per can.

The beer has achieved its low-calorie status through a unique brewing process. While many low-calorie beers will cut the sugar content inside – often resulting in a more bitter and thin brew – Lowrise instead breaks down the usual complex sugar found in beer whilst using world-renowned Nelson Sauvin hops from New Zealand to help ensure maximum flavour and mouthfeel, according to the brand.

The result is a crisp, full-bodied lager that pours a hazy light-golden colour with tropical flavour notes and stone fruit aromas with a hoppy, dry finish.

Created by four friend including beer industry veteran Todd Nicolson, whose previous experience includes the New Zealand Beer Collective, all of whom stated taste remained a priority when crafting this brew.

Nicolson said: “Lowrise is a culmination of our passion for great beer and our commitment to health-conscious living.

“Making healthier food and drink choices shouldn’t mean having to settle for second-best. We’ve created a beer which first and foremost tastes great, with the benefit of having 35% fewer calories than the average lager.

“We’re super excited to partner with Waitrose for the launch. Their commitment to quality and innovation makes them the perfect partner to introduce our lower calorie, but full vibes, beer experience to drinkers nationwide.”

While this marks the first major supermarket listing for Lowrise, the beer is also available through the brand’s website and is already stocked in 40 independent retailers.

Jourdan Gabbani, beer buyer at Waitrose, said: “We’re delighted to bring Lowrise to our customers at Waitrose. It offers all the flavour and taste which you expect from a quality beer, with less calories, making it the perfect option for anyone looking for a lighter option.

“Our customers are always interested in exploring new beers and we can’t wait to hear what they think about this delicious product.”
