New teas aim to please

Pure Leaf Match tea

LIKE shoppers in most other categories, tea drinkers are becoming increasingly adventurous.

Japanese-style Matcha tea is one category that has benefitted from rising popularity in recent years, with tea brand Pure Leaf releasing three new Matcha variants.

The range features Pure, Ginger and Mint flavours, which are all 100% natural and made using Japanese Tencha tea leaves, which are said to create a smooth, earthy taste.

The range comes in fully recyclable clear plastic jars, that contain 12 individually wrapped sachets to be enjoyed at home or on the go.

Noel Clarke, vice president for refreshments at Matacha parent firm Unilever UK, said:  “There’s been a real explosion in the popularity of matcha, it’s currently the fastest growing segment of the global tea market.

“Health and experience are key drivers within the category and matcha delivers on both.”

Pure Leaf Matcha Pure, Mint and Ginger are available at an RRP of £8.99 per unit, and the teas can be enjoyed hot or over ice, as a tea, or even as a latte.
