ORGANIC foods supplier Biona has unveiled a new tranche of bakery products inclusive of new sliced bread variants as well as a new toasties offer.

Available from September onwards, the new sliced bread range aims to meet the consumer demand for more healthy, natural options within the bakery aisle and consists of the Bakehouse White Sliced Load, Bakehouse Wholemeal Sliced Loaf and the innovative Bakehouse Protein Sliced Loaf.

The white and wholemeal variants come with an RRP of £3.19 while the protein variant comes at £3.79 RRP and offers 15g of protein per 100g of the bread.

All three have a short list of natural ingredients to deliver an artisanal texture and flavour created through the use of a sourdough recipe.

A further addition to the bakery range, Biona has unveiled the new Super Seed Toasties variant which are made up of 23% super seeds. The new toasties include flaxseeds, sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds and are ideal for breakfast, lunch or on-the-go options.

Each pack comes with an RRP of £3.99 and are naturally high in fibre, a source of protein and contain healthy fats.

Gemma Williams, head of marketing at Biona’s parent company Windmill Organics, said: “The bakery category is changing with many people now looking for healthier, clean-label options to consume at the start of the day.

“So, it’s no surprise Biona’s bakery range is expanding accordingly, and our Rye bread is now the fastest growing and best-selling in the UK. With 36% of UK consumers prioritising high-fibre bread and 26% looking for breads that support gut health, we’re confident these latest additions will be well received.

“Not only does our new sliced bread range offer great taste and healthy credentials, but all three loaves have a longer shelf life than competitors, which reduces waste and allows more flexibility within stores and at home.”
