About Allwyn

Allwyn’s goal is to rekindle the magic of The National Lottery: the excitement of playing, the joy of winning and the positive role it plays in bringing people together.

Their vision is for The National Lottery to ‘change lives every day’ – not only for the players who win life-changing prizes, but also the millions who benefit from over £30m raised for Good Causes every week by National Lottery retailers and players.

Your Questions Answered

What is the best way to ensure we get new Scratchcard games?

Scratchcard range changes take place on a monthly* basis, with Allwyn launching three new games, on average, in each one. The number of games you receive is dependent on the size of your dispenser, and the range you have been assigned is based on your average weekly sales.

New games are sent to your store when you have sold through the predecessor stock, so it’s important to activate packs when you have an empty window and put them on sale in the correct window as per your planogram. To try and clear down predecessor stock, try suggesting games to your customers to make way for new games.

What advice can you provide on how to promote new Scratchcard games to customers?

Firstly, always display any Scratchcard Point of Sale (POS) sent to your store, immediately on arrival. Every six to eight weeks, Allwyn will provide new Scratchcard advertising, promoting specific hero games. For example, on the 5 May, all stores will receive POS to support the £5 ‘Best Odds Guaranteed!’ and £2 ‘£250,000 Win All’ Scratchcards. Ensure you site the POS immediately to drive awareness of the games with your customers.

Secondly, look out for Scratchcard game updates in Allwyn communications, such as Jackpot magazine and Lottery Update direct mails. The latest edition of Jackpot magazine, which landed in stores from 21 April, has a double-page spread to highlight 10 new Scratchcard launches along with a key selling point for each game. Use this information to promote new games to your customers.

Some customers don’t understand the 10 x Scratchcard Limit. Where can we direct players to find out more?

As a reminder, in October 2024, Allwyn introduced a new Scratchcard limit, preventing retailers from selling more than 10 Scratchcards in a single transaction. The limit helps protect players by preventing excessive play, and is part of your duties as a responsible retailer. In the support kit sent to all stores prior to the change being implemented, a window sticker and A4 poster were provided to signpost the change to players. The National Lottery website also includes more information about the limit in the Scratchcard section, should players wish to find out more.
