RETAIL tech firm Jisp says c-stores are continuing to sign up to its Scan & Save mobile app.

The company claims retailers achieved more than £1.17million of sales through the app in the year to 31 May – already a 52% rise on total sales for 2022.

Data from Jisp’s top 10 performing stores shows that Scan & Save boosts sales by £100,000 a year while giving shoppers more than £30,000 of discounts.

And Jisp is expanding its partnership with Payzone to reach more retailers after first teaming up a year ago.

Phase two of the rollout will see Scan & Save reach about 4,000 retailers.

New website for PGMA

PGMA has launched a new website – www.pgma.co.uk – making it clearer and easier for independent retailers to join and understand the benefits of the buying group.

Commercial manager Martin Devlin said: “Bringing the very best in convenience to independent retail stores is what PGMA has always strived to deliver since being established in Scotland in 1970.

“And this key pillar of success has been brought front and centre with the brand’s refresh and launch of its new recruitment website. The fresh new look brings the brand bang up to date.”

SPAR Scotland wholesaler CJ Lang has opened a new company-owned, licensed, village c-store in Caithness.

The 1,324sq ft shop on Main Street, Castletown, formerly a Morrison’s Daily, is keeping all 11 staff members and offers a wide range of daily essential food and drink products and services to the community.

The store has been refitted with the latest Spar designs as well as a new floor, counter area, ceiling and shelving.

It also has a CJ’s-branded food to go area with a range of hot and cold offerings, a Costa Coffee machine and a Calippo Slush machine.

New eco-friendly refrigeration ensures there is a comprehensive range of chilled products alongside fresh items. Services include the Lottery, Post Office, PayPoint and an ATM.

To celebrate the opening, the new Spar donated £500 to Castletown Youth Club.
