Charitable initiative returns for 2023

SPAR UK has launched its £100,000 Community Cashback scheme for the second year running.

Following what Spar described as the “enormous success” of the project last year, the Community Cashback programme has made its return for 2023 to allow retailers across the UK the chance to apply for a grant to support a local organisation.

Retailers looking to put in their applications can do so via the Spar website but must do before the closing date of 15 March. Successful candidates will be contacted on 2 May.

Available grants can reach up to £10,000 and successful applicants will have the chance to have their charity showcased across Spar social channels as part of the top 100 shortlisted charities.

The 2023 campaign is set to be supported by Spar UK across all five of its regional distribution centres with extra PR, digital and promotions across Spar stores through POS materials and Spar Radio.

Last year, Spar UK managed to distribute five £10,000 grants to good causes across the entire UK, including West Dunbartonshire charity Bags Full of Love that put the money to good use to provide essentials for children in foster care.

A total of 30 grants were distributed from the total £100,000 prize pot in 2022, with donations made to charitable works through five £5,000, five £2,000 and 15 £1,000 awards.

Suzanne Dover, Spar UK brand and marketing director, said: “Our 2023 Community Cashback programme gives our Spar stores a chance to give back to their local community.

“We believe in nurturing our neighbourhoods and supporting the communities we serve, and the Community Cashback scheme is another way we are helping to do this, especially now when deserving local organisations need some extra financial support.

“The Spar £100,000 Community Cashback Scheme will give shoppers across the UK the chance to make their communities better and we look forward to helping the winning causes in the coming months.”
