Ten years and a new owner
URBAN Eat has marked its tenth birthday with a change in ownership for the sandwich brand.
Chilled and ambient food manufacturer Samworth Brothers has purchased the brand, which will now form part of the firm’s Food For Now Company offer.
Under the new ownership, Urban Eat joins food-to-go brands Ginsters and Soreen in the Food For Now Company portfolio.
The current Urban Eat range available through Fresh Food For Now includes the brand’s most popular sandwiches and wraps as well as its meat-free ‘Roots’ range.
Samworth Brothers has also reinstated Urban Eats’ hot range, which includes paninis and toasties.
The brand will also offer gluten free and light choices.
A spokesperson for Fresh Food For Now Company said: “We are delighted to have acquired such a well-respected brand which has been a staple of the food-to-go sector for an impressive ten years.
“With the addition of Urban Eat to our portfolio, Fresh Food For Now Company is now the one-stop-shop for every food-to-go outlet in the UK, especially as the sector gets back on its feet.
“Bringing Urban Eat on board is just the beginning. We’re busy making exciting plans for the future of the brand, so watch this space.”
