Co-op extends deal with Pro Gro Supermarkets

RETAIL group Co-op Wholesale has extended its partnership with Pro Gro Supermarkets, spreading out its presence in the Scottish convenience sector in doing so.
Under a new five-year partnership between the two, Pro Gro Supermarkets – owned by Scottish Grocer Awards Entrepreneur Award winner Jay Javid – will have all 12 of its Nisa stores across Scotland covered by Co-op Wholesale.
Paul Webster, sales and partnerships director at Co-op Wholesale, said: “We’re thrilled to be furthering our Nisa store presence in Scotland through this five-year contract extension with Pro Gro Supermarkets.
“It’s testament to the fact that we understand the independent convenience store market and offer unbeatable partnership and knowledge to help them flourish and grow. This is a truly wonderful business, and we’re thrilled to continue to work alongside them.”
Through the extended partnership, Pro Gro Supermarkets will continue to benefit from access to the Co-op’s own-brand ranges across key categories including beers, wines & spirits; food to go; snacks and treats; and food for tonight including the Co-op Irresistible pizza range.
Co-op Wholesale has said this latest move reaffirms its commitment to the sector in Scotland and demonstrates how the firm is willing to invest in the sector moving forward.
Jay Javid, managing director at Pro Gro Supermarkets, said: “Signing this new 5-year partnership with Coop Wholesale was an easy decision, there was simply no one else in the market who could match their level of support.
“The key accounts team is phenomenal, our weekly deliveries are on par if not excellent, and their availability week in, week out is the best in the market. I have built invaluable personal relationships across the Co-op Wholesale team, whether it’s Paul Webster, Sales and Partnerships Director, Katie Secretan, Managing Director, Andy Rutter, Head of Key Accounts, or Leanne Millar, Key Account Manager.
“We are in constant communication and they are always with us to support – that kind of partnership is priceless. Quite honestly, there was no other player in the market capable of supporting our already significant business and our ambitious expansion plans.
“This deal allows us to take our store estate from 12 stores and beyond. We are incredibly excited about the future, and we thank Co-op Wholesale for everything.”
