FUNCTIONAL drinks brand Boost Drinks has announced its official sponsorship of Sir Kevin Sinfield’s upcoming 7-in-7: The Grand Finale challenge to support a range of charity initiatives.

The challenges will see the Rugby League legend take on the mammoth challenge of running seven ultra-marathons within seven days ahead of the Super League Grand Final on 3 October.

Speaking on the challenge, Sir Kevin said: “This challenge is set to be our toughest yet, but one that I’m looking forward to completing as the Grand Finale of the 7-in-7 Challenge. The opportunity to raise money for the MND community is always a privilege, and I’d like to thank Boost for their support.

“As ever, the challenge is set to be a gruelling week, but with the support of the Rugby League community and the knowledge that this will raise vital funds for those impacted by MND, I’ll be able to push forward.”

Sir Kevin’s challenge will kick off from the home of the current Rugby League World Club Champions Hull KR and will visit each of the home ground of the 12 English Betfred Super League clubs. The charity initiative will conclude at the Super League Grand Final in front of an expected 70,000 fans at Old Trafford.

The money raised from the event will go on to benefit six different UK charities that all support vital research into Motor Neuron Disease (MND) in memory of Sir Kevin’s teammate Rob Burrow, who was diagnosed with the devastating illness in 2019 and died in 2024.

Since his first 7-in-7 challenge in 2020, Sir Kevin and his team have raised over £11million for MND research with six charities benefitting from the challenge consisting of: the MND Association, Leeds Hospital Charity appeal for the Rob Burrow Centre for MND; My Name5 Doddie Foundtaion, Darby Rimmer Foundation, MND Scotland and the Irish MND Association.

Lisa McKenna, brand director for Boost at parent firm AG Barr, said: “Sir Kevin has long been a legend of Rugby League, but his work to support MND research following the diagnosis of his team mate has spoken to the public nationally and raised vital funds for research into the disease.

“Since becoming involved with Rugby League as a brand this year, BOOST was keen to show their support both to legends of the game and to causes close to fan’s hearts, so the opportunity to support Kevin’s Grand Finale that brings these two together meant we were keen to show our support in a big way.

“We’ll be making sure Sir Kevin receives a great reception at the upcoming Betfred Super League Grand Final. We can’t wait to cheer Kev on during the challenge and support him all the way to the finish!”
