SUFFOLK-based brewery Adnams has its eyes on the low and no alcohol opportunity, launching a dealcoholised version of its flagship brew Ghost Ship.
The brewery highlighted Nielsen consumer data which found over one quarter of shoppers intend to cut their alcohol consumption in 2019, as evidence that conditions are right for a low ABV Ghost Ship to set sail.
Adnams’ new 0.5% Ghost Ship has been brewed using reverse osmosis techniques, which maintain maximum flavour whilst removing the majority of the alcohol.
The brewery is currently one of only two in Europe that uses this technology.
A spokesperson for Adnams also pointed out that the alcohol-free Ghost Ship beer is duty-free – meaning it will not be affected by rising prices, and should therefore be more affordable to purchase.
