A SYSTEM designed to remove harmful nitrous oxide emissions from diesel engines has picked up an environmental award for its portable and eco-friendly approach.
The AdBlue by Yara pouch is a bespoke canister for AdBlue, a colourless solution used to reduce nitrous oxide emitted by cars. Yara, which created the pouch in anticipation of a increase in demand from drivers of new diesel cars, has a patent on the pouch which features no loose parts and is said to be made from 70% less plastic than competitors.
Yara’s UK business manager Paul Norman said: “I am honoured that our new packaging solution has been recognised as an innovative and effective approach to the NOx emissions issue. The citizens of the UK, as well as elsewhere, have a right to clean air. AdBlue provides that – and packed in our pouch it does so leaving a minimal CO2 footprint.”
