SCOTLAND’S only Budgens stores are set to close, putting a number a jobs at risk.
The former Co-op stores in Prestwick and Paisley were sold last year, along with 32 others in England, to Food Retail Operations Ltd (FROL), which brought them under the Budgens brand.
However, following a sustained period of difficult trading conditions, the company went into administration last month.
Mike Denny, joint administrator with PwC, said: “FROL has faced significant headwinds in the form of pricing pressures, intense competition and structural change across the food retail sector.
“We are continuing to trade all 34 stores, whilst engaging with interested parties for the sites and the other leasehold interests of the company.”
