THE boss of one of Scotland’s main confectionery manufacturers, a long-standing newsagent and retailer and two men often said to have kick-started the UK’s booming craft beer industry were among the people honoured in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List last month.
Douglas Rae, managing director of Golden Casket, the Greenock-based firm behind brands like Millions, One Pounders and Buchanan’s was awarded the OBE for services to business and the community.
And there were MBEs for James Watt and Martin Dickie, the founders of craft beer firm Brewdog, for services to the brewing industry.
The MBE was awarded to David Woodrow, owner of Woodrows Newsagents for services to the Scout Movement and the community in Bishopton, Renfrewshire.
