A look at what’s going on across the convenience channel and associated businesses and organisations
Talysis VOX ‘is Alexa for retail’
RETAIL and data expert Talysis has launched an AI and voice-powered insights system that it says is as easy to use as Siri or Alexa, and will transform the grocery market.
VOX, which stands for voice-operated expert, will enable retailers, wholesalers, symbol groups, brands and sales organisations to streamline processes, improve communication and uncover growth opportunities, says Talysis.
The interface can be used alongside a business’s own data, the internet and other Talysis solutions such as Convenience Data.
For store owners, VOX Retail can provide insights on aspects such as product range, pricing, promotions and sales trends.
Other elements of the VOX set-up cover wholesale, sales, business and display.
Talysis boss Ed Roberts said: “VOX will provide expert, data-driven advice in response to simple questioning in people’s natural language. From a single-site independent retailer to the largest blue-chip companies, VOX has the answer to drive business growth.”
AI benefit may be artificial, warns Ingredient Communications
A HUGE 83% of consumers believe food and drink firms should declare on a product’s label if it has been made with the help of AI, according to a study.
And 64% believe products should not be described as “natural” if AI has been involved, while 78% want the Government to introduce laws to control the way manufacturers can use the technology.
Richard Clark, boss of Ingredient Communications, the firm behind the survey, said: “Many food and drink companies have rushed to embrace the benefits of AI but it’s important they take care to consider how consumers feel about this.”
Revamp for Avens Retail stores
AVENS Retail – part of the Nisa network – has celebrated the reopening of two stores in Fife.
Locals flocked to the launches in Ballingry and Overton Road, Kirkcaldy, which featured family-friendly activities, charity raffles and giveaways for visitors. Avens Retail has also introduced a year-round free fruit scheme for primary school children.
Avens owner Zahid Mukhtar said: “These vibrant openings mark the beginning of a new chapter, where we’re bringing a carefully curated selection of local products, trusted Co-op own-brand items and unique community programmes to customers.”
