Perfetti Van Melle expands its confectionery singles range

CONVENIENCE retailers have a fresh chance to drive impulse sales through the launch of two new Booker-exclusive Mentos Rolls variants, as confectionery giant Perfetti Van Melle (PVM) strengthens its investment in the confectionery singles category.
Mentos Green Apple Roll and Mentos Strawberry Mix Roll are available at depots now with an RRP of 75p per 37.5g roll – with the display units holding 40 rolls each.
Developed exclusively for Booker, Mentos Strawberry Mix Roll is said to deliver three distinct strawberry experiences: sweet, original and sour in a single roll, while Mentos Green Apple Roll introduces a crisp, mouth-watering flavour profile.
PVM cited data that shows the confectionery singles format is worth £430million a year, with 70% of singles purchase decisions made in-store, with shoppers actively seeking out new and different products. PVM says that makes flavour innovation a key driver of impulse purchases and basket growth.
The firm also said fruit singles over-index with younger shoppers, reinforcing the importance of regularly refreshing the fixture with relevant, on-trend innovation.
Sarah du Plessis, senior brand manager for Mentos at PVM, said: “Convenience retail moves incredibly quickly, and the singles fixture must keep pace with that. Shoppers make split-second decisions, so giving them something new to discover within a brand they already know can make all the difference.
“When we look at where the biggest opportunities exist, it’s often in evolving our strongest-performing products. Mentos Fruit has built a strong following, so extending the range with Green Apple and Strawberry Mix felt like a natural next step.
“Both flavours have broad consumer appeal, but each brings something distinct to the fixture, giving retailers greater variety within a range that’s already proven to resonate with shoppers. Launching exclusively through Booker means independent retailers can be first to offer shoppers these new flavours, giving them another point of difference within a category where newness matters.”
