Scotland’s Speciality Food & Drink Show on its way to SEC

The 2024 Speciality Food & Drink Show at the SEC will feature more exhibitors than ever.

MORE than 120 producers will be exhibiting at Scotland’s Speciality Food & Drink Show, which takes place at the SEC in Glasgow from 21-23 January.

That’s a 10% increase on the number of exhibitors at last year’s show.

About a third of all suppliers are new to the event, representing a mix of innovative Scottish producers and well-known British brands, say organisers.

There will be a chance to enjoy the finest food and drink from Scotland’s regions, with stands for produce from Orkney, Argyll and Mull. And the next generation of producers can be discovered at the Launch Gallery.

Drinks offerings will include everything from artisan tea and coffee to soft and alcoholic products.

Scotland Food & Drink will be a show partner for the first time, with a large hospitality stand, as well as contributing to special events. There is also a busy schedule of talks.

FOOD and Drink Federation (FDF) Scotland has appointed Jim Fox as its new chair.

Fox – who is taking the reins from Dr Gary Stephenson, who served as the chair for six years – brings with him a wealth of experience from his current role as head of public affairs GB at Coca-Cola Europacific Partners.

Dr Stephenson will continue to serve FDF Scotland as a member of its board.

On his appointment, Fox said: “FDF Scotland is a very powerful voice for our vibrant and diverse industry. I am extremely proud to have been appointed as its new chair and take over at a time when the organisation is strong and resilient.”

David Thomson, chief exec at FDF Scotland, said: “I would like to thank Gary for his time in supporting and representing FDF members based in Scotland through what has been an extremely challenging time for our industry.

“We are delighted that he will continue to play an important role as a member of FDF Scotland’s board.

“Jim’s experience in a range of policy areas and in navigating the political landscape will be of great value to the FDF and our members.

“This will help to ensure the importance of our vital food and drink industry is understood by policymakers.”

Drinks firm Kingfisher rebrands

Kingfisher Drinks is the new name for the former Kingfisher Beer Europe company.

KINGFISHER Beer Europe (KBE) is getting 2024 off to a flying start by rebranding to Kingfisher Drinks.

The company was set up more than 30 years ago to distribute India’s No.1 beer, Kingfisher, to the UK and throughout Europe.

But the business has changed dramatically in recent years and the name no longer fills the bill. The company’s portfolio now includes Peacock Cider, Makai Spiced Rum and 5 Walla Cream Liqueur as important strategic brands.

And the firm now exports across the world to markets in North America, South America, Africa and the Middle East.

Shaun Goode, chief operating officer at Kingfisher Drinks, said: “This contemporary rebrand is the latest step for a company that has been rapidly evolving since 2016.”
