OVER 200 meetings between Scottish wholesalers and food and drink producers took place last month at an event intended to improve links between the two sectors.
Facilitated by the Scottish Wholesale Association, Scotland Food & Drink, and the Scottish agricultural society (SAOS), the ‘Delivering Growth Through Wholesale’ event saw over 50 suppliers meet with over 30 wholesale buyers.
The wholesale growth programme is designed to provide businesses with the tools and information they need to maximise opportunities within the wholesale industry.
Colin Smith, chief executive of the Scottish Wholesale Association, said: “We have developed this programme with our partners to strengthen our engagement with wholesalers and local producers, and to help them access new markets, driving more Scottish products into the 5,000 convenience stores and 30,000 hospitality, tourism and leisure venues that our members supply.”
John Davidson of Scotland Food & Drink said the event would be a “catalyst for further programmes” to build engagement.
