THERE is a new Bank of England £50 note in circulation and the Association of Convenience Stores has highlighted a number of security measures to help retailers be prepared.
It points out that the note includes a hologram on which the word changes between ‘Fifty’ and ‘Pounds’ when the note is tilted and under ultraviolet light, the number ‘50’ appears in bright red and green, against a duller background.
ACS chief executive James Lowman said: “We are encouraging retailers to familiarise themselves and their colleagues with the new security features of the polymer £50.”
