The event in Glasgow is coming soon
INDEPENDENT retail takes centre stage at the Crowne Plaza in Glasgow this month, with the return of the Scottish Grocers Federation conference.
Running over 24 -25 October, the event will open with a trade exhibition of more than 30 companies and organisations, before an afternoon of business sessions covering some of the key challenges facing retailers.
Issues up for discussion across both days include Scotland’s proposed deposit return scheme. First Minister Nicola Sturgeon is also expected to provide the keynote address as the conference closes on 25 October.
Other speakers on the schedule include SGF president and executive chairman at United Wholesale Scotland, Asim Sarwar; Mike Watkins, head of retailer and business insight at Nielsen; Nisa sales director Steve Leach; and Trystan Farnworth, commercial, sales and sustainability director at Britvic.
SGF chief executive Pete Cheema said: “The SGF conference is built around giving retailers something useful and relevant to take back to their business.
‘The programme combines a trade exhibition, breakout sessions and a first class range of speakers to ensure this is an event that cannot be missed.
“There is a strong focus on networking and developing business relationships.”
The SGF conference is free to attend for retailers, who can register by getting in touch with the SGF.
