NORMALLY if you talk noses at award-winning Milnathort c-store and ice-cream business Giacopazzi’s you’d expect to be swirling a fine wine at one of its tasting events.
But last month staff at the newly crowned Scottish Grocer Licensed Retailer of the Year had other nose activities in mind when they went all out to raise cash for Red Nose Day, the Comic Relief charity appeal.
The store had been collecting donations in the weeks immediately before the event and members of staff volunteered to be gunged on Red Nose Day itself.
Staff dressed up for the day, sold home-made goodies for the cause and 50p from each ice-cream sale also went into the Comic Relief coffers.
But the bulk of the money was raised by customers paying to vote for which member of staff they most wanted to see being messily gunged. Managing director Joanna Giacopazzi’s fiancé Franck turned out the “winner” after a flood of last minute votes from the children of Milnathort Primary School Nursery.
As the total passed £500 it triggered a pledge by Joanna herself to be “cream pied.”
The Giacopazzi’s Red Nose Day total: £644.23.
