McVitie’s unveils latest limited edition flavour for Jaffa Cakes

SNACKS firm pladis has unveiled the latest limited edition flavour for its McVitie’s Jaffa Cakes range with the new Yuzu Lemon variant.
Available for a limited time, the new treat features the classic sponge cake on the bottom and crackly chocolate on top, but with a twist on the jelly flavour. Jaffa Cakes has made a citrusy swap from the standard orange flavour to the more ambitious and tangy Yuzu Lemon.
Yuzu is a citrus plant of Chinese origin and has mainly been cultivated across East Asia, though is also present in a number of other countries. The fruit resembles a yellow clementine and is a popular flavour in Japanese cuisine, used in a similar fashion to lemons due to its tart flavour.
The new Jaffa Cakes Yuzu Lemon flavour is available inTesco stores from 13 August with an RRP of £1.50 per pack. This new limited edition variant follows swiftly on from the brand’s other recent flavour launch with the introduction of its Hot Honey variant in summer this year.
Jessica Woolfrey, marketing manager for Jaffa Cakes at pladis UK&I, said: “Jaffa Cakes have always been a firm favourite, and the new Yuzu Lemon flavour taps into a trend that’s captured foodie tastebuds everywhere.
“Punchy and refreshingly tangy, it’s a daring take on the original that is set to surprise and delight Jaffa Cake fans. As demand for bold flavours continues to grow, this launch presents an exciting opportunity to drive incremental sales and attract flavour-seeking shoppers.”
