Cross-border collaboration yields a sweet result for Hive Mind

WELSH meadery and brewery Hive Mind has teamed up with the Cotswolds-based coffee firm Rave Coffee to produce a new stout brew.
Building on Hive Mind’s experimental line-up of drinks, the team has worked alongside Rave Coffee to produce the new coffee honey stout Second Breakfast, marking the Welsh firm’s first time working with coffee.
Crafted using seven different malts, Welsh honey, rolled oats and mix of whole and ground beans from Rave Coffee’s signature blend, Second Breakfast has been described as a light stout, providing shoppers with a more sessionable drinking experience that has been dubbed an “autumn stout”.
Tasting notes have been described as a dark roasted character with a smooth sweetness that balances out the bitterness of the coffee and blurs the line between barista and brewer.
Available for purchase from Hive Mind’s website in either cases of six or 12, the new Second Breakfast comes with an RRP of £4.50 per 375ml bottle.
Kit Newell, co-founder of Hive Mind, said: “This beer celebrates the natural kinship between roasted malt and coffee. Working with Rave was the perfect fit. We share the same commitment to authenticity, quality and flavour innovation.
“Collaborations like this aren’t just about brewing a beer, they’re about building connections with other independent makers who inspire us.”
