Brewing up iron strength to chase away winter woes
EDINBURGH sour brewer Vault City is set to chase away the January blues this year with its range of brews inspired by Scotland’s national soft drink.
This marks the fourth year the brewer has aimed to perk consumers up in the winter, with four brews introduced to the firm’s online store as part of this.
First up, Vault City has introduced a limited edition can design for its popular 4.8% ABV Iron Brew sour, with a price of £3.50, the can depicts plenty of Scotland’s most iconic landmarks.
And for those with a more of a sweeter tooth, the brand has also rolled out its Iron Brew Raspberry Ripple variant. Complete with a 5% ABV and a price of £4.50, the sour adds a new twist on the standard Iron Brew beer.
Both of these variants come in the brand’s standard 440ml cans, but plenty of shoppers swear by glass bottles when it comes to the soft drink, so Vault City has taken this on board as well.
The new Iron Brew Export Strength, £6.50, arrives at the higher ABV of 8.4% in a glass bottle, providing a stronger brew for consumers who are keen for a touch of nostalgia with their brew.
And finally, while the taste is up for debate Vault City reckons consumers can have the best of both worlds with the new Iron Blue Bubblegum Brew. The 6.3% ABV bubble-gum flavoured sour beer comes in a glass bottle as well, with a vibrant blue colour that is set to turn consumers’ tongues blue as well.
While each brew is available individually from the brewer’s website, the drinks can also be bought as part of a limited edition gift pack for £22.50.
Steven Smith-Hay, co-founder of Vault City, said: “What started as a cheeky nod to a beloved childhood drink has become one of our most popular releases, with the original Iron Brew sour becoming a permanent fixture on our website last year.
“To celebrate four years of Vault City’s boozy spin on the orange drink, we decided to go for a brew bonanza: four drinks inspired by the iconic beverage, and two of them sold in those iconic glass bottles we all know and love!”
