Edinburgh store opens after refurbishment
LIDL has opened its largest Scottish store to date, in the nation’s capital.
Based on the site of the discounter’s first Edinburgh store, opened in 1995, Lidl Granton Road has undergone a significant extension and refurbishment,
The revamp has increased the sales area to 1,438 square metres and interiors have been updated to include new display features in the chilled food sections, larger fridges and an expanded range.
Should the merchandising introduced in Lidl Granton Road prove successful, the discounter plans to roll out similar displays to its other Edinburgh stores through 2021
During the first week of opening last month, Lidl offered consumers a range of store-exclusive deals including a £120 Toshiba 43” HD TV and £49.99 Vileda vacuum.
Gordon Rafferty, regional head of property at Lidl GB, said: “There’s been much anticipation for this expansion to Lidl’s original Edinburgh store.
“We are extremely grateful for all the support that we have received over the years from the local community and would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding during the works.”
