CARABAO is going from strength to strength in Scotland according to the latest sales figures from the brand.
Nielsen Total Coverage Scotland data for the 12 weeks to 22 August revealed that unit sales were up 42.4% for the period, with value sales increasing by 44.4%.
The figures were well ahead of the sports and energy category as a whole. Nielsen found that Scottish unit sales for the category grew by 18.9% for the period, with value sales up by 19.8%.
According to Carabao, the figures suggest that despite the Covid-19 crisis, energy drinks continue to be a key area of growth within the soft drinks category.
A spokesperson for the brand said: “Carabao is vastly outpacing category growth which is already strong as more consumers look to purchase the low calorie, lower sugar, fruit flavours on offer from the brand.”
The spokesperson also noted that as a result of the pandemic, category shopper missions have undergone significant change as with sales of multipacks enjoying strong growth.
And David Butcher, MD for Carabao UK and Ireland, said: “The Covid-19 pandemic has undoubtedly had an effect on how consumers shop.”
