Cutting down food waste across Morrisons Daily stores

FOOD waste reduction platform Gander has been named as a new supplier for Morrisons Daily stores.
As part of the new partnership, Morrisons Daily stores will be able to sell surplus and short-dated food via the Gander app, helping to reduce food waste across the supermarket’s convenience store estate.
Gander will be integrated across the EPOS providers in Morrisons Daily stores to ensure a seamless rollout of the scheme across stores with as little operational disruption as possible for staff members.
Using this method, reduced items will be automatically uploaded to the Gander app in real time, helping to increase visibility and accelerating sales of stock coming to the end of their use-by date.
Ian Bacon, head of convenience sales at Gander, said: “Being approved as a supplier for Morrisons Daily is an important step for Gander. Retailers are looking for practical solutions that work in the real world.
“This gives them access to a proven platform that reduces waste, supports profitability and delivers value back into their local communities.”
Raj Takhar, wholesale commercial manager at Morrisons Daily, said: “We are pleased to approve Gander as a supplier for Morrisons Daily franchisees, giving them access to an additional tool to help reduce food waste while supporting their local customers.
“Food waste reduction remains a key focus for our retailers. Solutions like Gander offer a practical way to improve margin recovery while supporting our wider sustainability ambitions.”
