140 years of history in a tin with Tennent’s Bavarian Pilsner

SCOTTISH beer brand Tennent’s has marked its 140th anniversary year by delving into ‘The Vault’ for a new limited edition launch with the Tennent’s Bavarian Pilsner.
The new 4.7% brew has been inspired by the founder of the brand, Hugh Tennent, and his travels in Bavaria. During his time in the German state, Tennent discovered and brought home a brewing technique that would go on to shape the future of Scottish lager.
Tennent’s now aims to honour that legacy with the introduction of the new pilsner beer that has been brewed with German bittering hops and Scottish barley, delivering a smooth finish that is rooted in tradition.
Tennent’s Bavarian Pilsner marks the first in a new series for the brand dubbed the ‘Tennent’s Vault’ – where the Wellpark-based brewery will continue to draw on its 500 years of experience to bring some forgotten favourites to the shelves of Scotland.
The new brew comes in a four pack of 440ml cans and will be rolled out across convenience and grocery stores including Spar, Asda, Sainsbury’s, Sainsbury’s Local, Morrisons and Morrisons Daily from late October and into November.
The launch will also be supported by digital marketing support and a PR campaign that pays homage to Tennent’s Bavarian roots, complete with the launch of a new Square Wurst sausage that takes inspiration from traditional Bavarian bratwurst and a staple of the Scottish breakfast.
Joanne Motion, senior brand manager at Tennent’s, said: “This isn’t just a new product, it’s a celebration of Tennent’s heritage, our innovation, and our future. It’s a chance to reconnect with the story of Hugh Tennent and the Bavarian roots that helped shape our iconic lager – brewed using traditional Bavarian methods but made right here in Glasgow.
“This is the first release from the Tennent’s Vault, a new platform for innovation that draws from our vast brewing heritage and expertise. This is just the beginning, and we can’t wait to share what’s coming next.”
