Equi’s marks most successful year since 2019 with Great Taste wins
HAMILTON-BORN ice cream brand Equi’s Ice Cream has scooped up 11 stars across seven of its products at the 2025 Great Taste Awards.
Widely regarded as the ‘Oscars’ of the food world, the Great Taste Awards has saw fit to award an impressive 11 stars to the family-run business, including a highly-coveted three star award for Equi’s Hazelnut Brittle. This marked the first three-star triumph for the brand since 2017.
David Equi, chief executive at Equi’s Ice Cream, said: “To receive 11 stars this year, our best results since 2019, is a proud moment for the whole team, but the three-star award for our Hazelnut Brittle is the real cherry on top.”
Great Taste judges heaped on the praise for the Hazelnut Brittle gelato, calling it “A delicious gelato packed with crunchy nut brittle pieces, delivering an outstanding toasted hazelnut flavour.
“Wonderfully silky and smooth, with a gorgeous, rich, roasted nut flavour…A really special gelato that is skilfully made.”
The Great Taste Awards are run by the Guild of Fine Food and judged by over 500 food and drink experts, including top chefs, buyers, food writers and retailers. The three-star award for Hazelnut Brittle gelato place its among the 1.5% of over 14,000 entries and now qualifies it for the prestigious Golden Fork Awards, which celebrate the very best food and drink in the UK and Ireland.

• Hazelnut Brittle – Three Stars
• Pistachio Swirl – Two Stars
• Pistachio & Sicilian Orange – Two Stars
• Double Cream – One Star
• Strawberry Cheesecake – One Star
• Pistachio & Balsamic Fig – One Star
• Parma Custard & Vanilla Croquant – One Star
This also marks the 10th year in a row that Equi’s has been honoured at the Great Taste Awards, cementing its reputation as one of the UK’s most consistently decorated ice cream makers.
This new success also follows on from the brand’s revamp in 2024 which saw Equi’s introduce a design that pays homage to its Italian and Scottish roots.
