British confectionery firm Swizzels has marked the 70th anniversary of its Refrehsers brand with the creation of the new Tropical Flavour Chew bar.

BRITISH confectionery brand Swizzels has marked the 70th anniversary of its Refreshers brand with the creation of a new Tropical Flavour Chew Bar.

Featuring a mango and pineapple flavour, the new Refreshers bar offers a tangy twist on the classic sweet bar but still retains the brand’s signature fizzy sherbet centre it is known and loved for.

The new launch comes as demand for more fruity flavours within the confectionery space continues to grow, with the chew bar format also making this NPD ideal as an on-the-go treat.

Refreshers Tropical Flavour is available now as an 18g bar in price-marked boxes of 60 bars with an MRSP of 20p each.

To further mark this milestone anniversary for the Refreshers brand, Swizzels has kicked off ‘The Great Community Refresh’ this May, a nationwide initiative which is inviting people to nominate a community project, group or asset in need of a refresh.

Seven winners from this will receive a prize of £1,000 to make their community refresh project a reality and bring members of the local area together and give back to those who have supported Swizzels for decades.

Clare Newton, trade & shopper marketing manager at Swizzels, said: “Refreshers is a much-loved brand that’s stood the test of time, continuing to win over fans with its unmistakeable flavour and remarkable fizz.

“We wanted to bring a new twist to the nation’s favourite chew bar to mark 70 years since its creation and highlight how it’s still an iconic and ever-evolving brand that will be enjoyed for generation to come.

“Tropical flavours are having a real moment with consumers this year, which is why we’ve opted for a mango & pineapple flavour, helping retailers to appeal to demand for a fresh twist on classic confectionery.”
