TEA brand PG Tips has officially brought back its Monkey mascot to TV screens in a new advert with comic actor Emily Atack.

Premiering on 9 May, the new ‘At Home with Monkey’ ad follows Monkey’s new life with his wife Mrs M, played by Atack. The campaign will showcase Monkey’s “daily life” as viewers are invited into Monkey and Mrs M’s home where they live with their two children Earl and Chai as they banter, bicker and – importantly – brew their way through the day, living life one tea at a time.

The return of the iconic PG Tips character has been backed by a spend of £8million to help build the success of PG Tips. The campaign also includes some behind-the-scenes look-ins, photoshoots and even nods to some memorable pop culture moments.

The campaign will break on social media and YouTube from 9am on 7 May and goes live nationwide across TV and video-on-demand services the same day. OOH material has also been shot in classic reality TV promos style with the wordplay ‘Steaming Now’.

Further to this, a new limited edition Monkey pack of PG Tips has rolled out alongside some shopper activations to help bring more attention to the new marketing campaign.

Elle Barker, UK and Ireland chief marketing officer at parent firm Lipton Teas and Infusions, said: “Monkey is a legendary mascot beloved by the British public – people have missed him, so have we!

“His comeback is long overdue and this new campaign captures the chaos of family life and the role that tea plays in fuelling the day for British families.

“Our ‘Live Life one tea at a time’ campaign puts the iconic PG Tips brand and infamous Monkey back in the spotlight where they deserve to be.”
