Highland single malt aims to offer a ‘mainstream retail’ dram

HIGHLAND distiller Tomatin Distillery has evolved its off-trade range with the launch of its new Double Cask single malt whisky, designed for general retail.
Available now from Tesco stores and online from Amazon, Tomatin Double Cask has been matued in ex-bourbon and ex-Oloroso sherry casks to help create a whisky with a more accessible tasting palate.
Bottled at 40% ABV with an RRP of £37, Tomatin Double Cask offers a non-age statement dram with aromas of vanilla-sweetend baked apples and pears that give way to more deeper, dark fruit flavours that have been balanced with ginger and cinnamon for a sweet and spicy finish.
The final dram comes in a 700ml bottle and is encased in refreshed outer packaging for Tomatin, featuring teal blue detailing in the design of tree rings found in oak trees as a nod to the distillery’s “first-class” wood policy.
Gordon Hynd, UK sales director at Tomatin, said: “The release of Tomatin Double Cask via our continued retail partnership with Tesco marks an exciting milestone in the development of our supermarket portfolio.
“This is a welcome addition to our range, which has been developed with the supermarket customer’s requirement front of mind – creating a high-quality single malt at an affordable price point.
“Our refreshed packaging is a nod to the importance of oak in creating our Highland single malt whisky.”
