BAKERY brand New York Bakery Co. has introduced a Canadian touch to its bagels range with its new limited edition Sweet Maple variant.

Offering five bagels per bag, each limited-edition bagel has been baked with authentic Canadian pure maple syrup and packed with sweet cinnamon pieces as well.

The new launch comes with an RRP of £2.10 per pack and is currently available from Tesco stores and will be available in Morrisons on 4 September. There are also plans for a further roll out to Asda and Waitrose locations as well.

This new limited edition flavour follows on from New York Bakery Co.’s Blueberry variant, which rolled out on a limited basis as well in April this year.

The Sweet Maple bagels mark the latest move for the brand as it says it is constantly striving to bring new and exciting flavours to the market all whilst maintaining its signature New York roots.

To do so, each bagel is still rolled, boiled and baked for an authentic New York taste.

And it’s clearly an approach that works for the brand as IRI data has found the category is worth £185million in the UK, holding 53% of value share and 52% of volume share of the bagels category.

Christina Honigfort, marketing and insights director at New York Bakery Co., said: “Our third rotation in our limited edition portfolio, Sweet Maple, brings a taste of New York diners to Brits’ breakfast tables just in time for autumn.

“At a time when ambient bagel sales are out-performing the wider ambient breakfast category, with 4.3% year-on-year volume growth compared to just 1.8%, it’s New York or Nothin’ as far as we’re concerned.

“Our taste and chew is unrivalled because of our authentic recipe. If it isn’t from New York, it’s just a roll with a hole.”
