KP Snacks expands its price-marked offer
KP Snacks has expanded its £1 PMP range by introducing three new products.
The expanded range now includes McCoy’s £1 PMP Hot Mexican Chilli, Penn State Sour Cream & Chive £1 PMP, and a £1 PMP format for Popchips BBQ and Sour Cream & Onion.
KP Snacks said the new PMPs have been launched in a bid to drive impulse purchases.
According to Nielsen Scantrack figures dated 8 August, £1 PMP ranges are growing ahead of the market at +15%, with the KP Snacks range outperforming the category at +22%.
Recent figures from Kantar also revealed a significant increase in savoury snacking occasions during the coronavirus pandemic as Matt Collins, trading director at KP Snacks explained: “In recent months there has been a marked increase in savoury snacking occasions, with CSN being the fastest growing snack and showing up in 70% more convenience baskets during lockdown.
“However, with the current circumstances, consumers are likely to be more price conscious, so we feel it is important to offer products at an affordable price point and help retailers retain the baskets that they gained over lockdown.”
Price may be a key consideration for consumers, but Collins also highlighted the role that flavour plays when it comes to purchasing decisions.
According to Nielsen moving annual turnover figures from April this year, spicy flavours experienced 7.1% growth and are the most popular flavour option within the PMPs market – which KP Snacks reckons should spell success for McCoy’s Hot Mexican Chilli.
