WHEN insuring a forecourt, it’s worth seeking out professional advice and Amish Mamtora, director of Forum Insurance, has weighed in with his views advice on how retailers can ensure they get a policy that’s fit for their business.
“No two businesses are the same. When you look at the differing size of operators and their individual needs we would always advise seeking independent professional advice as you may find that there are certain covers more relevant to your business than others.
“An insurance broker can design a risk management programme tailored to your specific requirements,” said Mamtora.
What almost all forecourts have in common is the shift in offer that’s occurred over the last decade. Mamtora reckons that while fire, fuel leaks and thefts still represent the biggest threat to a forecourt business, today’s insurers can now create bespoke covers to take into consideration the shop side of things.
And if retailers are not in regular contact with their insurer, Mamtora suggests it might be worth shopping around.
“A good broker will communicate throughout the year and provide a mid-year risk review identifying new risks such as cyber cover for example as cyber crime is now becoming more and more commonplace,” he said.
