Orange oil has been added to Mackie’s chocolate ice cream to create a festive flavour.
Kirstin Mackie said: “Chocolate oranges are already so closely associated with the festive season, it is a great fit for our newest seasonal batch as we head into the end of the year.” She said Brazilian oranges were chosen for the recipe for their sweetness and added: “Pairing them up with our rich dark chocolate and adding some crunchy orange nibs into the mix has made what I hope is a great product even better.”
• Ben & Jerry’s ice cream has introduced three new flavours as part of the brand’s One Sweet World campaign.
One Love and Empower Mint will follow One Sweet World variety which combines Fairtrade coffee and caramel ice cream, with marshmallow and salted caramel swirls.
Proceeds from its sale will go to Hope Not Hate, a charity working to bring communities together.
Brand manager Alessandra Salvo said: “We like to offer something new for the autumn winter season – we know that 65% of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream is enjoyed whilst watching a favourite TV show or movie, an increased habit during the winter.”
