MARS Food, whose brands include Uncle Ben’s and Dolmio, will tell consumers to regard some of its products as occasional treats as part of its new global Health and Wellbeing Ambition programme.
The firm says the five-year project aims to create and promote healthier food choices and to encourage consumers to cook and share healthier meals with others.
Main goals include improving the nutritional content of Mars Foods products, through the reduction of added sugar and sodium and by the addition of vegetables and whole grains across its portfolio; providing consumers with more nutrition information to help them make balanced choices; inspiring consumers to cook and eat healthy meals with friends and family; and exploring new formats and opportunities to offer products in more places at affordable prices.
