SGF selects its first ever female vice president of the SGF

THE Scottish Grocers’ Federation (SGF) has announced that Kate McCrae, operations director at the Co-op, has been selected as the body’s new vice president.
McCrae will officially take up the role from 18 November during the SGF’s Annual Conference and replace the current VP Andrew Kenney, central operations director at bp.
Kenney will then take on the role of president of the SGF during the event, marking the end of Moniaivie retailer Graham Watson’s time in the role.
McCrae comes to the SGF with more than 25 years of experience in leading large-scale, customer-facing organisations across the UK with her current role at the Co-op seeing her responsibilities span across the retail chain’s expansive network of stores and its 42,000 colleagues.
This new appointment marks a major milestone for the SGF as McCrae will become the body’s first female VP and, following her two years in the role, will succeed Kenney to become the first female president.
Speaking on her appointment, McCrae said: “I’m truly honoured to be appointed as SGF Vice President and would like to thank Pete, Andy and the Board for their support. Convenience retail is an industry that I am incredibly passionate about, and I’m proud to have the opportunity to represent a sector that plays such an important role in the lives of customers and communities every day.
“Throughout my career, I have seen the resilience, innovation and dedication that exists across our industry, and I’m looking forward to working with SGF colleagues, members, and partners to help champion the issues that matter most to retailers.
“Together, we have a real opportunity to strengthen our sector’s voice, encourage greater diversity and representation, and support its continued success for the future.”
Incoming president Andrew Kenney said: “I’m delighted to welcome Kate as SGF’s next Vice President. Her passion for our sector, extensive operational experience, and commitment to the communities we serve will be a real asset to us all. I’m very much looking forward to working alongside her as we build on SGF’s strong foundations and continue to champion the industry across Scotland.”
