Shifting perspective on free-from with LazyDay cakes

FREE-FROM treats brand Lazy Day has picked up a Great Taste Award in recognition for its Mini Vic the Vegan Caterpillar Cake packs.
Offering an allergen-free solution on one of the UK’s most recognisable celebration cakes, the Lazy Day treat has been baked to be gluten-free, milk & egg free and suitable for vegans.
Made in Scotland, each cake features a soft chocolate sponge made from Belgian dark chocolate, which also covers the cake, with a chocolate-flavoured frosting filling and is topped with multi-coloured sugar decorations with a milk-free white chocolate flavoured caterpillar face on the front.
The Lazy Day Mini Vic the Vegan Caterpillar Cake picked up a one-star accolade from the Great Taste Awards with judges praising the cake that “looks and tastes like the thing we all know and love” and commended its balance of flavours, appealing appearance and rich chocolate flavour.
Dr Sally Beattie, co-founder of Lazy Day Foods, said: “At Lazy Day, we’ve always believed that free-from products should be every bit as delicious as their traditional counterparts. Receiving a Great Taste Award for one of our most popular products is a fantastic endorsement of that philosophy, and we’re incredibly proud that the judges recognised the quality and flavour we’ve worked so hard to achieve.”
Emer Bustard, co-founder of Lazy Day Foods, said: “Mini Vic has become one of our most-loved products because it brings a familiar favourite to people who may otherwise have had to miss out. We know how much joy simple treats can bring, whether they’re popped into a lunchbox, enjoyed with a cup of tea or shared with family and friends.
“Receiving this recognition from the Great Taste Awards is incredibly special because it celebrates exactly what we’ve always hoped to achieve: delicious free-from products that everyone can enjoy.”
