Nostalgia still to rule the confectionery aisle in 2026

CLASSIC sweets brand Stockley’s has tipped its hat to a classic staple of the dessert scene with it new Lemon Meringue flavoured sweets.
As with 2025, the brand anticipates that nostalgic flavours will continue to dominate the confectionery category across 2026 and is now on a mission to capitalise on this demand through its latest launch.
The new Lemon Meringue sweets feature a modern twist on zingy and sweet citrus treat with a lemon and vanilla hard-boiled shell with a tangy citrus core.
The new launch follows on from a plethora of nostalgic new variants in the Stockley’s line-up inspired by some retro desserts. In 2025, the brand added a Jam Roly Poly & Custard variant to its expanding speciality sweet carton offer along with a Choc-Scotch variant.
Through this, the brand reckons it has paved the way for more nostalgic classics to roll out across its range and capitalise further on consumer demand with the introduction of its new Lemon Meringue variant.
Andy Valentine, head of marketing at Stockley’s, said: “A perfect storm of spiralling chocolate prices over the last 18 months, coupled with a growing appetite for strong, playful flavours and fun sharing formats has not only been integral to confectionery’s renaissance but for the growing popularity of contrasting yet compatible flavour marriages.
“Early research suggests that Lemon Meringue hits the perfect sweet spot that appeals to both younger, inquisitive taste buds seeking a punchy and zingy hit and appeals to older consumers revisiting some happy memories.”
